Global Passport Index 2026

The Global Passport Index ranks passports by the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa — including visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival, and electronic travel authorisations (eTAs). Data is compiled from the Henley Passport Index, IATA travel information, and VisaGuide databases, cross-referenced quarterly for accuracy.

In 2026, Japan holds the top position for the sixth consecutive year with access to 193 destinations. Singapore (192) and South Korea (191) follow closely, while European passports dominate the top 20 — with Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Nordics all providing access to 185+ destinations. Notable movers include Denmark (+2) and Hong Kong (+3), both benefiting from new bilateral visa agreements.

The score bands used in the filters are: Very High (180–193 destinations), High (160–179), Medium (140–159), Low (120–139), and Very Low (100–119). Use the search, region filter, or score filter below to explore the full rankings.
