What you get

What we coordinate for your AFM.

An AFM application stalls on missing documents or unclear representation. We organize the intake, the process, and the handover.

01

Document intake

The identity and address documents AADE needs, checked before anything is submitted.

02

Representation where needed

Where you cannot attend in person, the representation or power-of-attorney workflow to apply on your behalf.

03

AADE coordination

Coordination of the application with the relevant AADE office, including the office for non-residents.

04

Handover

Your issued AFM handed over, ready for banking, rentals, work, property, or filing.

Gateway

The AFM unlocks almost everything

The AFM is required to open a bank account, sign a lease, work, buy or register property, and file taxes in Greece. It is usually the first administrative step.

Remote

Non-residents can get one

You do not need to be a Greek resident to obtain an AFM. Non-residents can apply, with representation where in-person attendance is not possible.

One number

Issued once, used for life

The AFM is a nine-digit number issued by AADE and used for all your Greek tax and administrative dealings.

Boundary

Setup, not tax advice

Movingto coordinates the AFM setup. Tax advice and filings stay with a licensed Greek tax adviser or accountant, which the tax-filing service covers.

Who this fits

Why use Movingto for an AFM?

Common questions

Questions before you engage.

What is an AFM?

The AFM (Arithmos Forologikou Mitroou) is the Greek tax identification number, a nine-digit number issued by the tax authority (AADE). It is required to file taxes, open a bank account, work, and buy or register property in Greece.

Do I need to be a resident to get one?

No. Non-residents can obtain an AFM, including through representation where they cannot attend a Greek tax office in person. Many people get an AFM before they move, to set up banking or a property purchase.

What does the AFM service include?

Document intake and checking, the representation or power-of-attorney workflow where needed, coordination of the application with the relevant AADE office, and handover of your issued AFM.

Can this be bundled with tax filing?

Yes. Many clients set up an AFM first, then use the Greece tax-return filing service for annual filing. The two are scoped separately.

Does Movingto give tax advice?

No. The AFM service handles the tax-number setup. Tax advice and filings stay with a licensed Greek tax adviser or accountant.
